Fun in the Summer Sun Family Time
In
August we had a fun time visiting with my Uncle John & his wife Pat who
were visiting from Virginia for two weeks.
They spent the majority of their visit in Whatcom County. The first weekend in August we camped out on
my Aunt Nicole & Uncle Warren’s property for the weekend. Even though we didn't cook over a campfire or have smores, because we slept in our tent, the kids said we were camping. We
spent Friday night hanging out with our family.
Saturday,
Nicole & warren held a big barbeque that turned into a party as the sky
turned dark. The kids spent the day running around, playing in the pool, the
sprinkler & of course the dirt. It
was nice to see my Great Auntie & Uncle and catch up with some friends
& family members throughout the day.
Sunday
was perfect. We picked up some Subway
sandwiches and drove to Lake Whatcom. We
spent the entire day out on the boat enjoying beautiful weather. As earlier planned out, once the boats
reached the south side of the lake a special moment took place. Nicole says
that being out on the lake in the boat is her happy spot so Warren turned up
the sappy country music & got down on one knee to pop Nicole the big
question. After Nicole said yes we spent
the afternoon swimming, floating, drinking and celebrating their
engagement.
The
following Friday, before my Uncle John & his wife Pat flew home we took a
trip to Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma.
Maybe it was because it was hot outside or because I am partial to
Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo but Point defiance was disappointing. Although we did enjoy ourselves the zoo
appeared dirty & unmaintained. The
glass on the seals, walrus & otter exhibits was so dirty it was difficult
for my littles to see the animals. Then
the polar bears & reindeer were not even out on display. The top parts of our trip were the sharks,
the tigers and the Geocatching show at the main stage.
It
was wonderful to have my uncle John & his wife here visiting. Next time they come in 2016 will be for a
wedding. I can’t wait for the good times
we will have. I love spending time with
my family & I always look forward to our next adventure together. Camping, barbequing, boating, swimming, adventuring. so much fun packed in to a small amount of time!
