Crazy Cheetahs
I found this blog on my computer last week, it was written in May.
I guess I just needed to add pictures to post it!
In March, we started our third season as a soccer family. Coach Dad was back at it! It was an exciting season that started off right on the first practice. Unlike Tyler's first two seasons of coaching where we spent the first few practices getting to know the families, this season our team was filled with kids that requested Tyler as a coach! What an honor to be surrounded by ten families that choose us. We had practices once a week from March until May and games every Saturday throughout April & May.
This season we focused on sportsmanship sharing the glory. We had one shy guy who did amazing at practice but when game time came; he got shy & wanted to sit on the sidelines. It took all the parents, Tyler & all the kids offering encouragement & cheering him on but guess what, one game, he was our top scorer!! The first couple of games we had three players making the most of our goals. That is when our team started to focus on passing supporting each other on the field. As the season went on every member of the team scored at least one goal in a game. We had our kids rooting each other on from the sidelines & using filed talk to communicate. It was a great season of development for all of our kids. It was awesome to see the kids encourage each other & become teammates instead of ten kids on a team.
This season Issac did an awesome job. Maybe it is the age & comprehension level he is at but he caught on to drills quickly. He handled taking a break without upset. He stepped in when someone got injured. Issac did awesome at cheering on his teammates & encouraging them to play when they felt shy. Tyler & I are really proud of our guy!
Like every other soccer season, we had some awesome cheerleaders from near & far come to cheer Issac on as he played. Josie & I attended every game. Grandma Melanie came, Grandma Laura & Grandpa Mark, Grandpa Brad & Grandma Shannon, cousin Courtney & even Great Grandma Sherrie & John.
For the third season we once again visited Auntie Irene's in Des Moines for an end of season Ice Cream Get together & trophies handing out. The kids love ice cream, even when it is cold outside! It is fun to see them get their trophies. The parents look forward to what Tyler says about each child and the kids just want to get their hands on the trophy!
