The Best Mother's Day Ever

Tyler’s Mom’s birthday is May 9th so it usually falls on or around Mother’s day weekend.  So after Issac’s soccer game on Saturday we headed north to her house in Marysville for her birthday dinner celebration.  It was nice to be able to catch up.  The kids enjoyed playing with Tyler’s step brother’s Lucas & Devin in the yard; kicking the soccer ball, tossing the Frisbee and learning ninja moves.  Mark made some delicious steaks and for dessert homemade cheesecake. 


On Sunday, Tyler made us brunch reservations at the Ship Canal Grill.  After we ate, we enjoyed mini doughnuts, balloon swords, fish flying and Issac picked me out some flowers at the Pike Place market. 



After we walked around Pike Place we decided to walk down to take a ride on the Seattle Great Wheel.  We had planned to take a romantic night ride the weekend before while out for dinner celebrating our wedding anniversary but the weather was stormy.  Mother’s day this year was beautiful, sunny clear skies.  The Great Wheel line actually moves along and we boarded within fifteen minutes of purchasing our tickets.  The view of Puget Sound and Seattle is breath taking and my only complaint would be that the ride is over just as soon as it starts.  

After we rode the Great Wheel; Issac really wanted to go to the Zoo.  Tyler wasn’t too keen on the idea but I persuaded him to say yes because the kids had been great all day and we were all truly enjoying ourselves and the city.  Plus, we have our membership so going to the zoo doesn’t cost us anything.  We made a loop around the zoo and decided to splurge on ice cream before heading home.  At home Tyler barbequed Steak & Shrimp Kabobs & we enjoyed a round of Candy Land before calling it a night. 



This was the best Mother’s day yet.  I tend to be the person who is always too busy doing for others to remember myself.  This year Tyler really went above & beyond to make me feel loved and appreciated for all I do and I consider Mother’s day as his payment in full for the year!  I love my lil family and my favorite thing in the world is sharing adventures and making memories with our children.

I think it was only a day or two after his fourth birthday party that Issac declared that for his fifth birthday he wanted a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party when he turned six.   Honestly, I’m half surprised he didn’t change his mind & half not surprised at all that he didn’t change his mind during the year because Issac has loved turtles ever since he was two.   Issac loves not just TMNT but all things turtle, he has books about turtles, a handful of stuffed turtles and even a pet tortoise, Crush.     Above- Issac invited 6 school friends to his party. University of Washington Tacoma Graduation

After years of dreaming & hard work, on Friday June 10th, 2011, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies.  It was a great day. Tyler, the kids, my Mom, my Uncle Greg, cousins Emma & Jacob plus my Grandpa's wife Barb cheered me on inside the Tacoma Dome. 2011 has gone by so quickly.  Since Josie's birth completing my homework has been tough. Some days i just wanted to stay home & hold my baby. But I knew that she was safe at home with her father while I attended class.  I look back and I am so grateful for Tyler who has always believed in me & never kicked me while I was down.  Our plan to have children while I attended school was one of the best decisions we could have made for our family.  Everyone keeps asking so many questions!!! Our First Family Road Trip

We had planned & canceled a trip to Utah last fall because Tyler was out of work due to injury & we couldn’t afford it. However, since my Grandma’s death it has weighted heavy on our minds that none of Tyler’s grandparents have yet to meet Miss Josie. To fly to Utah with Josie on our laps would have been close to a thousand dollars. However to drive was only about $350 in gas round trip. Once it was confirmed that Tyler was able to line up his work vacation with his school’s Spring Break, I began to plan everything out.  Before, during & after our trip   EVERYONE kept asking us why we choose to drive the "long" way to utah through Montana.  It is simple, we wanted to spend some time with tyler's younger brother & his wife in Spokane.  We saved money on this trip in many ways.
