Ninja Sharks

Issac still loves playing soccer. Even now, in the Winter, when it is freezing outside, you can find Issac & his friends kicking around the soccer ball.  All Summer he talked about his first soccer team he played on in the Spring- Crash Landing. So it was not a hard decision to enroll him & we signed Issac up for fall Soccer through the Des Moines Parks & Recreation department.  

 We started August with ten players but by our first game we were down to nine kids ranging in age from 3-6 years old.  We had two kids that returned to our team from our Spring Team.  Our entire season was awesome.  We had a couple of ties, a couple of losses and a whole streak of WINS!!!!  By the end of the season our team had figured out what they were doing and were focusing on mastering their skills.  Tyler was able to bring a little of coaching experience with him to the field.  He leaned what drills the kids enjoyed and that the threat of running made lips zip up real tight, real quick!  He went to practice each week with a list of drills.  Everything went really smoothly the entire season. Outside of practice, Issac was practicing with Tyler & his friends daily.  His focus and hard work paid off & Issac really began to shine this season.  At our last game he scored seven goals with our team winning with a 10-3 final score.

Now it is Winter.  Issac still plays soccer with his friends & Tyler.  Although Issac still asked when Soccer starts back up he is now enjoying being on a Kindergarten Basketball team.  A new Season, a new sport, a new adventure. 

Once again, Tyler was able to coach.
  

Practices started in August & were held every Monday from 4-5pm. 


 Games ran September through the first of November.




 We ended our season with Ice Cream & trophies at Auntie Irene's.

I think it was only a day or two after his fourth birthday party that Issac declared that for his fifth birthday he wanted a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party when he turned six.   Honestly, I’m half surprised he didn’t change his mind & half not surprised at all that he didn’t change his mind during the year because Issac has loved turtles ever since he was two.   Issac loves not just TMNT but all things turtle, he has books about turtles, a handful of stuffed turtles and even a pet tortoise, Crush.     Above- Issac invited 6 school friends to his party. University of Washington Tacoma Graduation

After years of dreaming & hard work, on Friday June 10th, 2011, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies.  It was a great day. Tyler, the kids, my Mom, my Uncle Greg, cousins Emma & Jacob plus my Grandpa's wife Barb cheered me on inside the Tacoma Dome. 2011 has gone by so quickly.  Since Josie's birth completing my homework has been tough. Some days i just wanted to stay home & hold my baby. But I knew that she was safe at home with her father while I attended class.  I look back and I am so grateful for Tyler who has always believed in me & never kicked me while I was down.  Our plan to have children while I attended school was one of the best decisions we could have made for our family.  Everyone keeps asking so many questions!!! "When will you get a job?" "Where will you work?" 'what will you do with the kids?"  All kinds of personal questions. Tyler & I have been waiting to hear if he will return to work or not be

Our First Family Road Trip

We had planned & canceled a trip to Utah last fall because Tyler was out of work due to injury & we couldn’t afford it. However, since my Grandma’s death it has weighted heavy on our minds that none of Tyler’s grandparents have yet to meet Miss Josie. To fly to Utah with Josie on our laps would have been close to a thousand dollars. However to drive was only about $350 in gas round trip. Once it was confirmed that Tyler was able to line up his work vacation with his school’s Spring Break, I began to plan everything out.  Before, during & after our trip   EVERYONE kept asking us why we choose to drive the "long" way to utah through Montana.  It is simple, we wanted to spend some time with tyler's younger brother & his wife in Spokane.  We saved money on this trip in many ways.
