Thanksgiving 2014

Typically we travel to spend Thanksgiving with my family in Oak Harbor or Ferndale.However, this year Tyler's Grandparents were visiting for two weeks from Salt Lake City, Utah so we traveled to north Marysville to celebrate at Tyler's Mom's house.  It was a very nice & low key turkey day in a full house with twelve people.  Tyler's step father, Mark cooked two large turkeys on his wood pellet stove and they turned out delicious.  Tyler & I spent the day visiting and catching up with his Grandparents whom we hadn't seen in almost two years.  The kids spent the day kicking the soccer ball around the back yard with Lucas & uncle Jayson and just running around being curious.  

We stayed the night Thursday and spent Friday enjoying the company of Tyler's Grandparents before heading home.  We headed back up to Marysville on Sunday to have Family Pictures & Josie's birthday while Tyler's Grandparents were in town.  Then the following Saturday we drove up for the day to say good bye before they flew home on Sunday. 

Especially since loosing my Grandma, I find it important to see Tyler's Grandparents. I want my kids to be able to see them, form relationships and create memories with their great grandparents.  I feel so blessed to have memories of not just my great-grandparents but also my Great-great-Grandma Willis aka Willamina Rice.  I remember having tea in her kitchen, listening to classical music in her living room & picking flowers in her yard.  It is not a lot of memories but it is enough to bring warmth to my heart & a smile to my face.  that is all I want for my children, heart warming memories.

I think it was only a day or two after his fourth birthday party that Issac declared that for his fifth birthday he wanted a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party when he turned six.   Honestly, I’m half surprised he didn’t change his mind & half not surprised at all that he didn’t change his mind during the year because Issac has loved turtles ever since he was two.   Issac loves not just TMNT but all things turtle, he has books about turtles, a handful of stuffed turtles and even a pet tortoise, Crush.     Above- Issac invited 6 school friends to his party. Summer 2018

We enjoyed another summer creating memories of fun & chaos. The actually calendar dates for the seasons never seem to coincide with the weather in Washington.  Summer in my head runs from the last day of school to Labor Day weekend.  Since moving to Whatcom county in June 2015, we don't spend as much time at the parks.  Although the people in the community are more family oriented & friendly, the parks system leave much to be desired after living in King County.  Our favorite park this summer was Lynden City Park.  Issac spends the entire time in the creek chasing fish and crawdads.  Josie goes back and fourth from the water to the swings, with the tire swing being her favorite. We did less camping than last summer but we participated in more summer time activities than ever before.  Issac played summer baseball and the kids each participated in a couple of summer camps.  The kids are become very social little people and spent a lot of the summer playing outside with thi

University of Washington Tacoma Graduation

After years of dreaming & hard work, on Friday June 10th, 2011, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies.  It was a great day. Tyler, the kids, my Mom, my Uncle Greg, cousins Emma & Jacob plus my Grandpa's wife Barb cheered me on inside the Tacoma Dome. 2011 has gone by so quickly.  Since Josie's birth completing my homework has been tough. Some days i just wanted to stay home & hold my baby. But I knew that she was safe at home with her father while I attended class.  I look back and I am so grateful for Tyler who has always believed in me & never kicked me while I was down.  Our plan to have children while I attended school was one of the best decisions we could have made for our family.  Everyone keeps asking so many questions!!! "When will you get a job?" "Where will you work?" 'what will you do with the kids?"  All kinds of personal questions. Tyler & I have been waiting to hear if he will return to work or not be
