Fireworks, Friends and Fun

When your babies are babies and you’re nursing them in your postpartum glow everyone tells you how fast the time flies, they only stay little for a minute and to enjoy every precious minute.  Here I am going back and realizing that I have been digitally documenting our Independence Day and our adventures for four years.  Reading my old posts from 2011, 2012, and 2013 melts my hearts with the sweet memories and makes me realize how true all those advice filled comments were. 

This year we once again visited the Auburn Airport to watch the Emerald Downs Fireworks show on July 3rd.  I had packed up a dinner, a few card games and some glow sticks to entertain us as the evening sky went dark. The kids always enjoy it but this year Issac fell asleep waiting for dark. 

 

Friday we headed north to celebrate Independence Day with the Wagester family.  The kids played in the back yard on the swing set and in the pool most of the day.  Once the sun went down they put an air mattress in the driveway for the kids to watch the Dads go crazy with the fireworks.  We enjoyed some burgers and jello shots.  We spent the entire day relaxing and enjoying our freedom to enjoy life.  A perfect day.

I think it was only a day or two after his fourth birthday party that Issac declared that for his fifth birthday he wanted a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party when he turned six.   Honestly, I’m half surprised he didn’t change his mind & half not surprised at all that he didn’t change his mind during the year because Issac has loved turtles ever since he was two.   Issac loves not just TMNT but all things turtle, he has books about turtles, a handful of stuffed turtles and even a pet tortoise, Crush.     Above- Issac invited 6 school friends to his party. Summer 2018

We enjoyed another summer creating memories of fun & chaos. The actually calendar dates for the seasons never seem to coincide with the weather in Washington.  Summer in my head runs from the last day of school to Labor Day weekend.  Since moving to Whatcom county in June 2015, we don't spend as much time at the parks.  Although the people in the community are more family oriented & friendly, the parks system leave much to be desired after living in King County.  Our favorite park this summer was Lynden City Park.  Issac spends the entire time in the creek chasing fish and crawdads.  Josie goes back and fourth from the water to the swings, with the tire swing being her favorite. University of Washington Tacoma Graduation

After years of dreaming & hard work, on Friday June 10th, 2011, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies.  It was a great day. Tyler, the kids, my Mom, my Uncle Greg, cousins Emma & Jacob plus my Grandpa's wife Barb cheered me on inside the Tacoma Dome. 2011 has gone by so quickly.  Since Josie's birth completing my homework has been tough. Some days i just wanted to stay home & hold my baby. But I knew that she was safe at home with her father while I attended class.  I look back and I am so grateful for Tyler who has always believed in me & never kicked me while I was down.  Our plan to have children while I attended school was one of the best decisions we could have made for our family.  Everyone keeps asking so many questions!!!
